Research Reflection and The Magic School Bus

Research Reflection:

For the past month we have been researching body systems on our own.
One good thing about doing it this way is we can really know what are we learning because we find the information to answer the question.
One thing I didn't like about doing in this way is that we will need to find more information and learn it from reading by our-self ,and for the ESL people it will be really hard to answer the question.

I think Mrs. Smith plan it this way because the people that don't like to listen in class will learn by their-self and follows the progress.
One suggestion for Mrs. Smith is to give us more web site to read and learn because some website wrote the different information. Another suggestion I have for Mrs. Smith is help us a little bit, so that we can quickly understand it.


The Magic School Bus:

Today we watch "The Magic School Bus", this time the class went to a field trip in Arnold' stomach (Digestive System).
One thing that are correct in "The Magic School Bus" is that we chew the foods before we swallow the it. Another thing that's correct is that we use our teeth to break the foods into small pieces.
One thing that is incorrect in "The Magic School Bus" is that foods don't need 10 hours to digest, it takes about 4 hours. Another thing that is incorrect is

The researchers found that the elephants that live in the zoo usually die when they're about 19, but the elephants that live in wild die when they're about 56. And the elephants that live in zoo are die from being stressed, overweight or bad health. Scientists are calling the zoos for stop taking elephants from the wile so elephants can live for longer. The zoos say their are trying to improve the lives of the elephants in the zoos.

Miranda Stephenson (British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums) said: "We're giving them bigger and softer areas, which is better for their feet, we're keeping them in bigger groups and we're keeping mums with their daughters so we've got proper families. We're also looking at their diets and making them less fattening."

A luxury hotel for dog is opening soon in the city of Munich, so the people are going away over Christmas and has a dogs that they don't want to leave them at home can take their dogs to the dog hotel. And this hotel will be the first five dog hotel. And there are 20 trained 'dog sitters' to help the dogs that's struggling to get used to there temporary home.
Sabine Gerteis (manager of the resort) , said: "The dogs can decide for themselves if they want to lie down inside or be outside. They can relax.
If they want to be patted then the dog sitter is there. We also have a large area for them to run around in."
The dogs hotel wiil only keep 40 at one time. And it is very expensive, a day and night cost cost about £70.

Dogs Can Feel Jealous!!!!

The scientists found out that the dogs can feel jealous too. The test was in Austria with pairs if dogs and their owners. The dogs would have food to eat if the held out their paws and shake hand with their owners. But if one dog got a reward, and the other one didn't, the one that didn't got food would be unhappy.

And in another experiment the dogs did the tasks separated. When it happened the dogs continued to shake their owner' hand for a longer time.And this shows that dogs can spot if they are being treatd unequally.

Fighter jet has crashed in America, and 3 people was killed at December 09, 2008. The jet hit the houses in a residential area in San Diego. And the pilot was the only person in the jet. He ejected the jet before it crash and he was taken away to the hospital. The crash damaged tree houses and now investigators was discovering what happen, and why did the fighter jet crashed?
The jet was preparing to land when it's thought there may have a problem with the engine.

And the dogs aren't looked very well the traders caught them, because some of them are taken from their mom too early. The experts think that the illegal trade of animals could be worth as much as 300 million Euros per year. An Italian politician said be careful of the illegal trade, saying: "especially in a period like this, when people think that these cute little things can be given as a Christmas present".

A white with brindle cat was found at November 18, underneath a train that travel from Teesside to Carlisle, in Cumbria.
To travel underneath the train it must be very hurt, but the cat wasn't hurt and it was living in a local animal shelter now.

"We would like to reunite it with its owners, but if you lose a cat in Teesside you wouldn't think of ringing up a refuge in Cumbria." said Nicky Diebel, from the Animals Refuge in Carlisle.

"It was clear it had been there for a long time, as it was very shaken. It took a bit of coaxing to get it off, but eventually it did so" said Sam Glencross, from Direct Rail Services, "It's been the talk of the depot."

This mouse is the first duplication mouse.

Last night John McCain phoned Obama with congratulation.

1)Ask them to explain the benefits of being more organized.

Serena: I think that the benefits are that we can hand in work on time, work faster, and efficiently...

- Ask your parent to hide your charger, so that you can finish your HW in time and not playing game
- Give yourself a gift when you finish HW on time and without playing game.
- Do not open the websites that you don't need for your HW
- Don't put something that you don't need to use it for HW on your desk

Why is it important to have a clear explanation than a right answer in maths and science?

It is more important to have a clear explanation than a right answer because if you only has the right answer but you don't have the explanation, the teacher might think you copied other people' answer.
And if you has the explanation but you don't has the right answer. It is easier to know where did you do wrong.
And explanation can help you to remember how do you did that, so if you forgot how to do that problem you can go back and watch the explanation.

One skill I use for thinking is break the information to different group.
I usually make a table on a piece of paper and write the information that I have already break it down.

Other thinking skill I use is opposite thinking.
I think in the opposite way.
Example.
Can we go when it's red light?
You can think in the opposite way. You know that you can go when it's green light. So green light' opposite is red light. And the opposite of go is stop.
So you can't go When it's red light.

Remembering
Remembering is remind the things that you learn.

Videos, models, books, events...

Read the book or other things many time then you will remember it.

Creating id to invent something.

Synthesize, present, plan, create, deduce...

25 years ago black rhinos were cared by humans. But today rhinos are being let out to to live into the wildness. There used to be a lot of rhinos in the past but in the 1980s thousands were killed. Now a project that goes very well. And the planners are happy and release to let the black rhino out into the wildness.
Now the team are working on one of the countries where rhinos have struggled.
There were 20,000 black rhinos living in Kenya in the 1970s but now there's only about 500 black rhino left. And most of them were killed by poachers.
